Stewardship Statement
Having experienced God’s amazing grace in Jesus Christ,
we gratefully offer the first and the best of our lives back to God
and use the rest in generous ways that honor God and extend the Kingdom.

God calls us to be whole-life stewards of . . .

. . . OUR MONEY.

We seek to practice firstfruits giving to God through this church, with the tithe (10% of income) as the Bible’s benchmark.  We recognize that some will need to grow toward this goal over time and that others will feel called by God to generous giving far beyond this standard.

. . . THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS CHRIST.

We seek to witness to the saving, liberating, and healing gospel of Jesus Christ through all that we say and do.

We seek to be people of God’s peace and to share creative alternatives to war and violence.

We seek to invite new people to LMC, to practice hospitality with visitors, and to welcome all people to find their spiritual home among us.

. . . OUR LABOR.

We seek to honor God in the workplace by modeling integrity, excellence, and balanced living.  We seek employment that improves the world’s quality of life and does not oppress others.

. . . OUR TIME.

We seek to order our lives in such a way that we are free to seek first God’s Kingdom in all things.

. . . OUR RELATIONSHIPS.

We seek to nurture our relationship with God and to pursue lifelong spiritual growth through daily prayer and Bible reading in the home.

We seek to nurture our family relationships (whether single or married) and to help our children respond to the grace of Jesus Christ.

We seek to be regular Sunday morning attenders:  worshiping God, studying the Bible, building community, and being empowered for service in the workplace and home.

We seek at LMC to be part of a small group, to build close friendships, and to practice mutual care.

. . . OUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS.

We seek to contribute our spiritual gifts to this church through regular participation in our ministries and active involvement in one of our forums (Mission, Worship, Community Life, & Education).

. . . THE EARTH.

We seek to be caretakers of God’s good earth by caring for the environment, recycling, learning to be content with what we have, and living simply.

. . . OUR BODIES.

We seek to glorify God with our bodies through regular exercise, keeping the Sabbath, practicing sexual purity, eating healthy food, and refraining from anything that produces an addiction in us -- so that we may live long lives of service to God.
